Oakland Literacy Coalition will host their inaugural symposium, "Literacy & Justice For All," a two-day virtual conference breaking down barriers, highlighting best literacy practices, and elevating local literacy solutions. Educators, non-profit providers, community leaders, and parents are encouraged to attend. Oakland educators will receive a 50% discount when registering with their school email address.

Join The Black Teacher’s Project for the Black Teacher Leadership & Sustainability Institute.

Wednesdays, September 29 - October 20, 2021 | 2:30 pm–5:30 pm Pacific

Attendees receive caring guidance and facilitation to collaboratively explore the personal and professional challenges they face as Black school-based educators. Through this virtual experience, participants will have an opportunity to share, reflect, and set intentions for how to lead and thrive as Black educators in their different contexts. Black Teacher Project is also offering 20 full scholarships to district, charter, and private school teachers who are not able to secure professional development funding. REGISTER!

The Higher Ground Neighborhood Development Community Wellness Center will celebrate its grand opening.

When: Sunday Sept 19th at 3pm.

Where: 2010 Mandela Pkwy.

The Community Wellness Center is a place adults can gather to connect and reconnect. This milestone is a major move for Higher Ground on its mission to serve the community and provide valuable resources for youth, their families, AND now Adult spaces We welcome everyone to come and experience the Wellness Center, celebrate the richness of Oakland, and support local businesses of Color.
